Digitaler Wecker

Digitaler Wecker is a minimalist alarm clock interface inspired by the design principles of Dieter Rams. It reimagines a familiar daily tool through the lens of functional clarity and calm interaction. The layout is intentionally restrained, with a strict grid system, generous spacing, and only essential elements. The time display uses an LCD-style font that references classic Braun digital clocks, grounding the piece in a sense of timeless utility. The tactile switch element adds a layer of familiarity.

The visual language is rooted in Rams’ legacy of order and simplicity. Colours are drawn from the world of stainless steel, LCD displays, and Braun’s muted palette, giving the interface a subtle industrial warmth. Shadows and highlights are used sparingly to create gentle depth without distraction. Every choice, from type to texture, reflects a belief that good design should be quiet, precise, and human. Digitaler Wecker is an exploration of how thoughtful design can elevate even the most routine moment.
