This open-edition print reinterprets John Milton’s Paradise Lost through the lens of 1970s Iberian horror paperbacks. Drawing from the aesthetic of publishers like Editorial Prometeo and mid-century Spanish pulp art, I blended retro book design motifs with a bold, hand-rendered illustration of a demonic creature—a visual stand-in for Lucifer in his monstrous, pre-fall form.
The typography is fully hand-drawn, echoing the uneven kerning and low crossbars common in Letraset-era serif fonts. The goal was to strike a balance between high literary weight and cult horror energy, creating something that feels both archival and freshly unearthed. “Legacy Edition” serves as a nod to the collectible reprints and bootleg translations often found on vintage shelves.
This project explores how visual language can reframe classic literature, blending mythic themes with genre storytelling through design.
